Preparing Your Quilt for Best Results

  • Please do not baste your quilt layers with thread or pins.  The top, batting and backing are each loaded separately on the quilt frame.
  • Remove all salvage edges and press seams open.
  • Trim all threads, square and press quilt top and backing.  Seams should be pressed in a direction where they will lay the flattest.
  • Backing and batting should be approximately 5" larger than the quilt top on all sides.
  • Mark top edge of quilt top and backing.
  • It is best to use an all cotton backing.  Please, no bed sheets.
  • Please check all seams for loose seams and repair if necessary.
  • Please ensure piecing and borders lie flat.  If not, we cannot be responsible for tucks, wrinkles, etc.

If any of the above requests are not met and we need to do anything to prepare your quilt, there will be a $20.00 per hour charge.  An estimate of these services will be provided beforehand.

We reserve the right to refuse any quilt.
